maybe...a lot of people think the MR is the fq400 which in part has different internals, but the regular MR USspec has the same engine as the gsr and rs.

Dont worry you're friend is actually smart, my friend thought there was no such thing as a 2006 Evo IX MR, they were made from 03-05 according to him WOW

He's an idiot. The MR shares the same 4G63 with mivec as with the GSR and RS trims. The MR has a 6sp. and a few other notable add ons.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the JDM Evo VIII MR have a slightly more aggressive cam in it adding 5HP? I remember reading years ago that this was so.

well evos are underated from factory anyways, they're closer to 300 IMO.

Ok so we all they are the same, but why does the mr block have a diff part number? My guess is something to do with the 6 Speed although i didn't notice anything when i swapped in my 5 speed??
