If the engines were different they would have differen't part numbers. You would be able to order a "mr" or "gsr" motor... and thats not the case

Yeah it's special. It's more expensive but slower.

Yeah just do what I usually do with my friends. Be "looking up" closely related info and go "hey look at this your right"...when they do the whole I told you so thing, say "oh wait, I misread that nevermind." they won't ever forget that they were wrong.

definitly is no difference, but i think its funny how people think the MR tranny is so weak and slower than the gsr/se

I don't know if folks think the 6-speed is "so weak," but there has been a series of documented failures. They occurred under specific conditions that most folks who DD the car will probably never face. As for speed, the MR does need an extra shift in the 1/4, and it's the second heaviest Evo, though the weight difference is relatively small.
