Evo8 NEEDS HELP

I got a 2003 Evo 8. Recently stopped performing.

When I'm in gear the engine feels like it has no pull no matter how high the revolutions are. It takes me about 20 seconds just to go 10mph in 1st gear at 5000rpm.

Any idea what the problem could be?

I'm currently in pensacola, FL. I dont know of any reliable shops around here so I'm turning to the experts on evom

any more info then it stopped performing...First i would check all the intercooler pipes for a boost leak, then maybe turbo shaft play...maybe a bad turbo, does it have the stock plastic bov, the bov may be leaking under boost as well....there are plenty of things that are an easy fix, Most would need more info to diagnose the problem...good luck

I doubt it is boost leak or anything related to boost at this point since you're claiming that it takes a while to get to 10mph. My friend now (wasn't til after this problem) had the same problem a few years back when we met. We started talking about cars one day and figured out we both had evo's. he started to tell me what his problem was so i drove his car. lowe and behold it felt like a slipping clutch. he bought an '03 with just a tad over 40k to her and was wondering why the boost was taking forever. i think he went on here and found the same boost leak answers, but still couldn't figure it out, since he was a n00b. he decided to take it to mitsubishi and they diagnosed it as a slipping clutch. the thought i was a genius and wondered how i knew, but i just said that i know how my car feels and how it feels if there is something wrong.

i suggest finding someone with an evo out where you live and ask someone to drive the car. they will probably tell you it's a slipping clutch. i could be wrong, but that's what i'm assuming from the info you provided.

Good Luck!
