factory boost guage

ok im going to ask a nOOb question about the Factory boost guage.... and yes i've searched multiple forums cant find anything on it...

My 06 IX MR has the factory guages in it. Im going to assume it reads in BAR. right now when im at full boost, im only getting .8 on the guage. its steady between .9 and .8 and tapers to .7 at the very minimal. Reason i ask is by some simple math im only boosting about 11 psi (assuming the guage is in bar), and the Guage goes to 1.5, which (again assuming its in bar) would be around 22 psi.

I guess what im asking is what does your Factory Mitsubishi Guage go to when under full boost? I feel like im having problems with mine, i just recently got it and theres no other Evo's in the Area to compare anything with, so i turn to you guys. any help would be great guys.

oh and theres no warning lights on the dash or anything.

The factory gauge does not read in BAR. I cannot remember off the top of my head but i think its KPA? So your calculations will be off. Not by much, but off none the less.

On my 05 MR I get about 1.4-1.5 tapering to about 1.0 so yeah your could be low. However is that what your car is reading after it warms up to operating temp or on start up, because mine reads low at start-up too and that is normal.

my 05 mr use to only hit 1.0 bar or so. just install a mbc a couple weeks ago and now it hits about 1.4-1.5 bar.

I believe around 1.3 is normal for stock evo IX. That is what mine is hitting, 1.3-1.4

How accurate is the factory gauge? I have read that it is pretty accurate - any truth to this?
