Do body shops know that there is an SE model?

Reason I ask is that a neighbor hit my car while it was parked this morning. He scuffed up the entire passenger side headlight, bumper and some of my fender. I'm really pissed off to say the least. Now when I take my car to the body shop and they do an estimate and all that jazz, are they going to know that I need the IX front bumper with the SE lip? I hope they don't just give me the regular 9 bumper....Anyone know for sure?

when or if they order parts through mitsubishi, they should give them the vin # and that will tell them what they need. But if it's not all that bad they'll just repair it.

are you taking this to a legit shop? if you want to make sure just tell them.

It's going to be whatever shop my insurance recommends I guess...And I didn't know that body shops order brand new OEM parts. My old Eclipse was rear ended and the shop told me that they got the tail lights and rear bumper from a junkyard. So I'm not expecting to get anything new, which completely sucks because my front bumper was in immaculate condition.

Yah you can argue for new stuff. Theres no reason that you should take any kind of loss when it was the other persons fault.

i'm the parts associate at a proshop for allstate. you can decline the use of aftermarket parts but we do use salvaged items but they have to be for that year or newer. I'm sure there are plenty of junkyard parts for an eclipse, not so much for an evo around.

I went through this exact thing back in January of '09.

I made it very clear that my car had a special trim. I even went so far as to print out a parts list so they wouldn't have any excuses.
