I have autocrossed a couple cars with FP Blacks and 2.4L and let me tell you...It's nothing short of amazing.

I'm just stating my opinion about a fun setup. It's got nothing bigger than a HTA Green or similar. Anything that has 0 power down low and then suddenly kicks in like a monster can't take a turn properly. And anything that can't take a turn properly is not a fun car to me (from an Evo perspective). If you wanna go fast in a straight line, buy an american muscle. It'll be cheaper in the long run
Oh and ontopic addition: He's running an ATP GT35r setup. That's going to be laggy on 2.0, 2.3 or 2.4 Heck it'll prolly be laggy on a 3.0 aswell.

Its a hobby, I don't have real intentions of competition. As far as the cost, I am sending my ix turbo to fp for the upgrade so for the price of a 2.3 from ams I am getting the 2.4 and black for less still. Also ill have it all instead of having to goto ams for the block so I can do a lot of the work to save more on labor. I estimated everything and a total will be approx 6500 including labor but no clutch since I haven't decided yet so grand total maybe 8k for a built engine.

An fP black doesnt make power where the 2.0L revs over the 2.3L anyway so if it was my customer i would advise on a 2.3L..

I think there is a disconnect here... I have bought the 2.4 from slowboy racing. Already sent my turbo to fp. Already talked to ams about it all and they suggested I am good BUT depending on power I might need a new fuel system and they will see about keeping the stock ecu or upgrading.

I may be ignorant as I've never tried driving a big turbo car on an autocross but... Seriously though... Can you beat a stock turbo car with a big turbo setup on an autocross? Can you go faster through a turn with a big turbo on some mountain twisties? Can you press the pedal to the metal on corner exit?

I don't think you are ignorant but I do think you should try it out. It isn't as bad as it sounds. Of course I ran slower times than a car equipped with a stock turbo but I love the experience I get out of it. Especially if you are like me, I was in the same boat as you and thought a big turbo is useless unless it is striaght line but the 2.4L really helps. Personally on my car I have the stock turbo and nothing beats that in autocross but the styles of driving changes once you slap on a bigger turbo. I will be road racing soon and that is why I am going with an FP black set-up but I am keeping my stock turbo for autocrossing. I HATE going in a straight line so buying american muscle is not an option.

I agree also, when I had installed my 272 cams on stock block and stock turbo I lost the low end and it was horrible in my opinion. That's why I wanted the 2.3 with a black and then I learned about the 2.4 and since I don't race its very cost effective in my case.
