what going on with my car?? help------

Well in the past 2 days ive been maintainancing my car, I changed the fuel filter, cleaned the M.A.F sensor, Changed the spark plugs, and put a mini battery on my car. All of the sudden now when I start my car, it goes to about 1000rpm which is normal for it, but then it slowly rises to 1600, and nomatter what you do, It doesnt want to go down, the C.E.L is on and im afraid to drive it, what did I do to my evo???

oh and I also took off my BOV because I got a recirculation kit, and Lancershop sent me the wrong one, so that is another factor.

When you rehook up the battery the ecu trys to "learn" by slightly reving for a little while idk if this is it but its a start.

Go to autozone and have them check the code for free then fix

If you bov isnt recirculated from the factory its probible garbage buy the way. Forge is ok Stock metal one is the best.

How long does it take the ECU to learn, ive heard of this once, but am not sure of the detials

Check EGR vac line under the t-body.

Im betting it has to do with the MAF. Did your fingers touch the honeycomb part at all?

Could always undo the changes one by one until you process of elimination it out. Like hook up the old battery just to rule that out, Swap plugs, Etc.

I would say it has to do with the maf as well. Check the maf make sure it's pluged in all the way. Also look at the resistor on the backside of the maf.

what did you use to clean it?

also figure out what code it is and that will help us diagnose the car for you

wow good call on the MAF sensor, it wasnt on all the way, next time ill put my purse down and make sure it clicks. thanks for the immediate help- thats why I like this site
