Is it safe for passengers to ride in the back with a harness bar?

If you want a harness for the driver, you could mount only a driver's harness passing through the opening in the rear seat and still allow for a single passenger in the rear on the right side. That is the only solution I can think of.
I also do not recommend rear passengers with a harness bar.

Even 4-point harnesses can 'submarine' the driver/passenger, which is why non-poser evo track cars use a harness that is 5/6 point. Do you know how long it takes to secure yourself in a 5/6 point harness? Major PITA.
I track my car fairly regularly and would never use a 4-point harness. If you want the Evo to be more fun, why would you waste your money on a harness bar when there are so many other possibilities to improve your car?

Hit something and let me know. If you want to track the car - buy a harness bar and harnesses. You've already said you wanted Takata harnesses though and use it as a street car so it's probably for the same reason all the other rich ricers do...because they R mad JDM TIGHT YO! If they're not required by your event or for safety reasons then it's dumb - plain and simple.

Personally I love the way the recaros look with harnesses. Is it a crime to like the style of something. That being said.....its my DD and sometimes my kids are in the back so no harness bars for me.

To my understanding it's also very dangerous for the driver and front passenger with a harness bar and no roll bar. If you roll your car severely enough and you're strapped in isn't it decapitation time?
