This is one of the most refreshing threads I have ever read on this forum. It doesn't knock the old guys like so many threads on this forum do. I have always loved and owned fast cars and fast bikes. My interest in cars was always American muscle, but after becoming interested in rally and understanding what the Evo was, I bought my new IX as my DD.
I am not in a mid-lfe crisis because my love for machinery has been ongoing. Besides my IX,
I drive a Silverado ( every homeowner needs a pickup ), a 1969 Mustang 7 liter owned since 1972, a 1982 Honda CBX cycle, and a 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa. I am now 58 years old.
If you pass thirty and feel dead, you should buy a Buick!

Man that sounds like a whole bunch of haters, if you love your car thats the only thing that matters. I love muscle cars and imports n sometimes its hard to mingle with people that are only into one type of vehicles. DOnt let this folks wreck your fun man.

most people that critisize the EVO doso because they don't know what it is. we didn't grow up with the EVO here in the states, so no one knows what they are, what their rep is, or what they are capable of.

I have an RS and was never asked anything about it until I put the wing on. I had it on for 3 weeks and had several people ask that same question (im 29). It really is just education. I cant tell you how many guys driving their 4x4 trucks wanted to race me cuz they had a chip and exhaust. They really just dont understand that I could kill them even if I was stock and drove it backwards.

Usually when those over price car people tells me why do I bother driving an EVO. I just tell them because this 28k car can own your car at the light. Then they just shut up. We we just go out own way....

I was hoping for them to say, LETS TAKE THIS OUTSIDE !!!! but no one ever say anything to me.

most people like my evo. my dad hates it. then again i dont expect everybody to like the car, just like i dot expect everybody to like me lol.

to me, keira knightley is the single hottest female ive yet to see, to others, shes a bucket of yuck. cars are like women, its in the eye of the beholder. and really, who gives a **** what others think.

I am a 37 year old finance professional, and all i am gonna say is this. If you listen to what other people think, your signature just might look like mine... Here i am, just realizing and accepting the Evo for what it is, the most incredible beast i can buy. She may not be that cute, but i be damn if i am gonna date a girl just because YOU think she's hot! And now, i am looking for another Evo IX...

Sounds like your are a victim of people who "think" you should be doing something different because SOCIETY dictates it.

Kinda like seeing a black guy (me) with an Asian wife.......depending on where you live that always the norm. Or an office professional who likes to skateboard like he is a teenager.

My Evo keeps me young. I will always love sports cars (Japanese in particular). I'm looking ot buy another Evo IX in 2 more years. And if I ever get into another tax bracket.......a Skyline. I could care less what society tells me what I should be doing, who I should be and how I should live.

I do this for me because I'm damn near obessed with this hobby.

Oh and when people ask me why I didn't get an STi I just tell them I wanted to go fast without going broke.

And my license plate (2NDW1FE) gets a lot of laughs and people coming up to me to say positive things.

I am 34 and just bought my first 2005 Evo VIII. This car is so amazing and such a blast to drive and I wont own anything else. I don't care what people think. When I drive the car it puts a smile on my face and I feel like king of the road. Haters will always be out there because they are just jealous. I love the waves, thumbs up and even people taking pics while i drive by. The car is truly a attention getter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
