damn that was a pretty cool bit haha

I try to do as much as I can myself. Basic bolts ons I can do. Internals or drivetrain I just take it to a shop. I would want to tackle the job myself but I don't want to mess anything up and pay for it. Eventually, I want to learn how to do it. I'm a quick learner so if there's any opportunity for me to see in person on how to do something I try not to pass it up. It always feels good after completing and install yourself.

Its all about the learning experience. At first you might mess up, you might snap a bolt but its not that big a deal. So long as it doesnt cost you alot of money, like having to rebuild an engine or excessive downtime for your dd, then its not that big of a deal if you mess something up. Learn how to fix your mistake and now you learn what not to do for next time.

I for one need to know my cars as i really cant afford to pay people to work on them. I try to do as much as i can, constantly learning. Ive always found each new car ive owned to be intimidating. But once you do something minor, you feel a bit more comfortable to do something more major next time.

Ive noticed that over the years, the cars ive done my own work on, sweat on, bled on... Those where always the cars that i took the best care of. And were always most sorry to see them go.

I like to do everything I can, but don't want to mess things up like an engine build. I leave that to the pro's.

I've installed everything on my car but the clutch, cams, headstuds and intake manifold...

recently I learned how to do a timing belt, serpentine belt and a clutch job as well so next time I need those done i'll probably do it myself w/ a close friend that has experience just incase

took me 7hrs to do my first clutch job and it wasn't even on my own car but I'm still learning(this was on jackstands btw no lift)

I want to learn how to do the I/M and cams sometime soon(i've watched a friend do both quite a few times but it seems like so much **** to take off)

I agree, learning clutch jobs would be next on my learn-how-to-do list.
