MAF filter got damaged during install

i think this is the MAF filter, but my friend was kinda rough on it when he was installing a air filter and he accidentally took a wrench and scraped it.. should i would worried should i get him to buy another or ?

depends how good of a friend he is

its no big deal take a nail or a really small/thin screw driver and strighten out the honeycomb holes.... a new one will cost you around $250....

Most people remove the honey comb.

If it's damaged beyond repair then you could just go SD

Get a really small nail and carefully striaghten out the honeycomb. Be careful not to brake the thin material, so move it a bit at a time. Also be aware that the honey comb is at a slight angle--not perfectly horizontal. If you can get most of it straightened out you should be fine. If it was broken honeycomb in the middle section where the sensor is at then you might be screwed.

you should be fine. what ever u decide to do, dont remove it the car will idle weird if u do

its fine, try to bend what u can straight, i have similar damage on mine and no prob at all.

I dont understand the posts a few have made about removing the honeycomb. Its there to straighten out the airflow going into the sensor. Without the honeycomb the air is turbulent going into the maf, causing issues with the sensor. Its there for a reason.

weird.... it causes so much issues, but yet i been driving on mine with no honey comb for years without a problem.

it will make the car feel like it is missing at idle trust me i did it

no reason to take it out just straighten it up as best u can , it will be just fine
