Feels good

I rebuild the trans. on my Evo 8, now it shift a lot better. I shimmed the preloads on the diff., input and output shafts, the annoying buzzing noise on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear on hard decel is gone. Almost, about 90%. The rattling noise with the ac on before is gone. Also put a new factory clutch back on. Now the fun begin.

How long did it take you to rebuild the trans once off the vehicle?

Good job BTW

Did you DIY it or have a shop do it? I hate the decel noise... and the bucking, which isn't the trans, but still.

Beside trying to find all the right tools to take it apart and put the whole thing back togather, about 6-8hrs. Went back to stock clutch mostly is my dd which I do a lot of stop and go. Original had more than 40% left at 57k. I seen to many problems with aftermarket clutches.

I would like to know what kind of problems would that be? I have to say 99% of the guys/gals here have aftermarket and no issues what so ever. I know there are some clutches that are not that great but most dont have issues.

A lot of people have ACT or Comp, and a lot of ACT and Comp clutch's like to suck in multiple ways. (lockout, springs failing, wedge collar issues, etc)

Yes that is true as far as ACT having lockout at high RPM's but as far as Retaining clips the Exedy is known but STM has made the fix a 75 dollar part that sometimes they give for free when you buy from them. Its the Clutch fork stop and if you want to make power well you have to pay to play and a stock clutch well wont do nothing.

I'm not saying all aftermarket clutches are junk, just the ones that come to our shop that are broken, noisy, don't release right, etc. We end up putting stock clutch in them. No complains from the customers afterward. Plus I'm not running that much hp, just stock.

Awww, damn. So you rather have a stock clutch than aftermarket ones because they;re noisy, chattering noise, etc? :X
Yikez, well i guess in the long run you might want to look into a new clutch. Stock won't hold too long, especially if you do some torque/massive power.
