The "Yes, I abuse my car" choice is about 33%. That about equals the percentage of complaint threads about how Mitsu sucks and their trannys were defective.
Go figure.....

I only have 115 miles on mine so far, so I'm babying it still.
BTW....those people who DO drive their cars hard...when it comes time to sell your car don't lie to the person and lower the resale value for us owners who DO take care of our cars.
There is a difference between beating on the car and driving it like it should be driven.
Taking it to the dragstrip = beating on the car

A couple of times I've got to MY comfortable limits for cornering grip, but the car has wanted more. I'm lucky (?) enough to work odd shifts most of the time, so I get all the fun on/off ramps to myself. I'm not sure if I like the sound of the turbo or the cornering g's more. I actually think it may be the cornering g's.
I do not do, and will not be doing, any clutch drops. I actually spoke to the Evo certified tech at the dealer about gear clash in the car and he showed me that it was happening because I was not shifting aggressively enough. I guess I was too used to how my Eclipse shifted and had also been influenced by all the folks who complained about the clutch and tranny. So I'm now working the car a little harder and feeling good about it.
Best wishes,
f86sabre

my approach is this: it's there when i need it. the stock tires are waaay to soft and expensive to just burn for the hell of it. and we all know that the stock clutch assembly won't last if you're constantly beating on it...but when that 740 il assh#le thinks he's gonna boost you from the right turn lane---or that deer jumps out---or it's just a nice day on Stunt road the evo's got what i need...

I drive the heck out of my car.
Skyline road in Portland is my consistant adrenaline fix(see attatched).
I drive a US lancer now, but I drive it like an EVO. I had to replace the breaks at 8000 miles: heat damage. (my little $250 adrenaline tax) The LS just doesnt have those huge brembos... The comment fromt he guy at the mitsu dealership was "someone has been out racing this thing". No way were they covering that under warranty... Also just got new front tires @ 14,000 miles. I wore the fronts totally bald on the sides.
Will be getting the EVO in about 6 months. Cant wait. I am being a bit fiscally conservative, waiting till I can drop cash on the barrelhead.
This stock, RTK, is going to pay for my new car. (the market is my gig)
I intend to drive the heck out of the EVO too. If I break something, then it's just part of the package. The EVO will be my everyday car, and I will get something a bit more powerful and exotic for fairweather applications.
Love the rally car heritage. I can take it to the mountain for backpacking or skiing with no worries. Gots ta love AWD. Now try that with a viper...

I beat the living **** out of mine all the time. That is probably why I am about to get my 3rd transmission. Oh well after this I am getting a Tomei racing mission and then my troubles should go away!
