BTW....those people who DO drive their cars hard...when it comes time to sell your car don't lie to the person and lower the resale value for us owners who DO take care of our cars.
There is a difference between beating on the car and driving it like it should be driven.
Taking it to the dragstrip = beating on the car

Anyone here that says, "Oh, i seldom redline it... " - BS
Anyone who wants to buy a second hand evo can rest assured that the car has been thoroughly tested
Anyone who wants a second hand evo will want to thoroughly test the car himself/herself..
FYI, i break the local speed limit every minute i'm in the car (our limit on the highways is 80kmph/50mph) and if i wanted to drive legal, i'd bought a Micra/march... hehehee
However, i love my car... i look after it more than i look after my wife! (heheeh) when it goes to the shop.. i stay with it till it comes out like a husband pacing round the hospital room waiting for his wife to give birth smoking packs after packs of marlboro reds.... i give my evo the best this automotive world has to offer.. e.g. the best oils.. the best tires.. the best waxes and polish, the best mods.. and like the wife i love more.. the best screw (WOT-type)
my 2 cts worth...

dont buy an evo if you dont think you can maintain it... its really a high maintenance car (like a high maintenance wife/gf/partner/lover) but if you think you can.. you'll really enjoy it...

Yea, you need to have a few more choices. I only drop the clutch now and then, like at the dragway!! but Ive had mine for about 6 months and have dropped the clutch maybe 10-15 times. 10 at the dragstrip, maybe a few times on the road. Ive got it up to 135. I dont rip around corners too much, ive hit the rev limitera handful of times, maybe 7-10. but i really dont think thats beating on it. Well compared to alot of people i know with there cars who drop the clutch5 times a day and rip on it everywhere possible. Oh yea, and at 11,000 miles with NOT a single problem. Car runs awesome!!!

Get an engine treatment like Prolong or Slick50. I helps for extreme uses. But the big thing is buy an Evo that has not been properly broken in. I would not suggest buying an Evo that has not. The first 500 miles never go abouve 5000 rpm. And no extreme racing for the first 1000 miles.
