Weird clutch noise when disengaged
I have a comp twin disc and have had a weird noise since day one. I have dealt with it but just curious as to what it could be. When the clutch is pressed, there is a weird "grinding" noice and when the clutch is let go it goes away. "Grinding" is really the only word I can think of to describe it. The car shifts and drives fine its just a little annoying. Some have told me its normal for a twin disc but just want to make sure. Thanks

Some twin disks are well known for being noisy/chattery when disengaged at idle, its most likely nothing to worry about. It also may be your throwout bearing, depending on how it sounds.
Since you said the car drives and shifts just fine, I wouldnt worry...however, if you began getting lockout issues while shifting, the clutch likely needs to be adjusted as its dragging on itself and isnt fully disengaging while you shift.
To find out if the clutch is dragging, get the car off the ground on jackstands so the tires can freely spin. Have a friend with you too.
Start the car and put it in first gear, while youre still holding the clutch in, rev it up and start to two step it. Have your friend tell you if your tires begin to spin while youre two-stepping it. If the tires are spinning, this means your clutch is dragging and needs to be adjusted.

thanks guys, i figured it would be normal but just wanted to see what others thought. I'll give that suggestion a try Svendiesel. So far I havent experienced any lockout issues and the shifting is smooth

when i had my carbonetics twin clutch, that **** was loud. when in idle, it sounded like my clutch was bad to some people, but it was just a loud clutch. it did sound like a grinding noise, but as soon as someone said it was clutch clatter or something, i felt better about it.
until i destroyed my clutch about 10kmiles later. now i have an exedy twin HD. No clatter from that one. I love that clutch.
in short, if people ask you if your car is broke, they don't know **** about performance cars and havent been around twin clutch cars.
