evo IX owners

Hey everybody I'm looking into buying an evo Ix as my dd. My question is what are most common problems to go wrong with them? I want either an se or mr.

MR = 6spd transmission will haz failurez if you start modding.

5spds will too in the SE's, but theyre a bit stronger than the 6spd because they hold a little more fluid, so they handle heat resistance better.

Keep up with basic maintenance and drive it like you stole it and you'll be fine. I hope you have deep pockets if you intend to launch this car often

i use my IX as a DD. The biggest problem? Trying to keep the gas tank full.

if you get one as a DD, find one that's mostly stock and lower in miles. and go by this rule of thumb,

"The faster you go, the faster things break"

the engine will take a beating, and so does the trans if you know how to drive, the 6 spd is a litle more sensitive, but a lotof people have managed to pull some nice times with the 6 spd also.

I have an IX as a daily driver, engine and tranny have been awesome. I go through about a set of tires a year though. Thing that sucks, if you drive it every day, the temptation to treat it like a regular car and park close in, not wash it, and let your kids eat in it (which i dont) will lead to the predictable amount of door dings, paint fading and other maladies. Biggest problem, make sure you always have an extra 15 minutes in your schedule on the way to work in the morning for being harassed by cops.
