Depends on the car and how rusty the nuts are. Its fairly easy and straight forward just follow the how-to's online and youll be fine. Like others have said give yourself plenty of time.

The fuel pump isn't fairly categorized like other installs because I wouldn't consider it hard or time consuming. My feeling is that the fuel pump is tricky. Which may seem hard or time consuming, but it's generally not either one because it doesn't have a set removal.

For instance I had to change one fuel pump out of one of my Evo's and put it in my other Evo on the same day. Took me literally 5 minutes to have the fuel pump out of the first Evo. Took me about 15 minutes to take the fuel pump out of the second Evo. And this was within a few hours of each other.

So is it hard? No. Is it time consuming? Maybe. It's definitely tricky because of that stupid mounting plate.

Now, Ive done this mod 3 times before, so I had some prior experience. But after seeing this thread, I timed my self when doing my current evo.

When working at a moderate pace, from all doors closed and locked, to pump installed and doors locked, took me 9 minutes.

Not really a hard task.. and on a scale of 1-5 id rate it a ".5"

45 mins?! jesus.. seat pops out in 2 seconds. another 15 seconds to have the plate off. 1 minute to undo all the hoses and plugs... pull it out. Watch the float.

swap pump = 5 mins

It doesnt take long at all. Most of it is working it through the hole to get it out, and being careful not to rip the connections on the pump itself when you slide it out of its housing. If someones having trouble wiggling out of the hole on floor then I could see where 30 min comes in.

BTW, why is everyone posting about evo 8 pump installs, when OP has EVO 7???

guys i have a vii, its exactly the same as a viii - ive also done a swap on a viii

as above, its not hard, just tricky.

heres a tip, try to do the swap when you have alomost no petrol in teh tank..this way its not so smelly.

also, the tank does NOT need to come out...its a back seat jobbie.
