tb seal question

ok so i had a very slight leak coming from the spring side of my tb so i decided to get the mil. spec seals and replace them.
when i was done and did a test i had the very same amount of hiss coming from there as before,so is that just a normal amount?
i mean are these things actually expected to completely seal ?i wouldnt think they could.
also my original seals werent bad when i inspected them.car has 30k

"small hiss", you mean caused by boostleak test? if your just going by ear, its very difficult to hear boost leak while your car is idling. it may be something else.

if you indeed hear hiss during boostleak, you should verify with a soapy water.

Did you clean the throttle shaft free of all the compund that mitsu puts on to seal the blade to body? what did you use to clean the throttle shaft with?

Regarding your email you sent me; ~45 minutes after this thread, you didnt receive oem seals & I inspect all the seals before i place them in the gasket bag, so they didnt appear to be defective.

you had the same leak before & after the seal install......what method did you use to install the seals in the body?

i'll get you another set out today.

ok well of course i didnt do a boost leak with the car running, however a person would do that is beyond me.
i cleaned the shaft with alcohol,it was very clean after i was done and cleaned the entire throttle body.
i used a socket and a press to install these. just like we do with bearings.
also applied dielectric grease to the seal and shaft.
i have been a mechanic for 5 years
