oil burning? normal?

i got a quick question. im still working with this guy on his evo 8 for sale. and when i asked him if it burned oil he said no. but the only thing it did do was with in the oil changes it burned about a half a quart. which he says is normal. he also said its in the owners manual. can you please help me. is it normal.

Yeah, manufacturers usually give 1/2 to 1 quart of oil consumption for every 3k

Ok good thanks alot!! And also what made me think was he got the car 2 months ago and wants to sell it cuz he needs money for college. But he's been more than whilling to get it checked out for me.

Oh and also are 03s good evos to get? Or are 05s better idk.

03 dont have ACD, 05 have ACD...there are other differences too, but nothing major. You will only see the big differences between the 8 and 9.

Run AMSOIL in the motor. Oil consumption is very minimal for me when running it.

There was a thread on this just the other week, why does no one search for an answer first. Yes, some oil consumption is normal.

thanks guys and do you think i should go with an evo 8 2003 its cheaper and cheaper on insurance. my plans are like 350 whp thats it. or get a 2005 evo 8 and pay more and more on the insurance im 17 btw.

my car is build and it dosnt burn more than .2 from a quart.

I can afford them both but I would not like to pay 2300 a year on insurance on the 05 Evo 8

I have used RP since day one. My car in 3k doesnt burn any oil at all. 1/2-1 qt of oil every 3k is normal tho isnt bad. depending on how u drive
