ETS sells anodized intercoolers. I would think any other way of coating them with anything would be too thick and affect their cooling properties. Anodizing seems to be the way to go.

I just painted mine... im running about 400 whp and wtq and noticed no difference. I think this gets blown way out of proportion.

have you logged the car at all? or did you just use your calibrated butt dyno and assume everything is fine?

why even black out an intercooler on an evo? making an evo a sleeper is like wiping before you poop, it makes no sense

Love this! It just doesn't make sense to wipe first!

Don't I remember that copper radiators in cars were always painted black?

This is why i wanted the post deleted.... it's just going to turn into a big argument... lol.

Some people just like the black look of the intercooler. I could care less if it looks like a sleeper or not, i just think it would look nice. I seen another post where a guy said he put screen door mesh behind his regular mesh and it basically made it so you cant really see the intercooler.....

i was thinking about putting a really really light layer of black radiator paint on it. ONE VERY LIGHT COAT, then putting that mesh on. I have a 4" intercooler though, so im pretty sure my intercooler will be fine.

If I was going to paint it black I would go with a thermal dispersant coating. It will be black and actually serve a purpose.
