I heard the stock IC is fine enough for ALOT of power? I know of a rally team running with stock headers and IC with more than 25k$ on the engine only. They have been running in rally since the evo 6 so they know alot about the car (and they are own a mitsubishi dealer).
So my question: why are people changing their stock IC unless they aim for monster power?

I don't think you'll notice much difference just driving normally on the street. During street driving you're not likely to get heat soak.
I had my care tuned recently with only a mbc, downpipe back exhaust, test pipe and drop in k&n and made 298 on a mustang dyno. I'm sure a bigger intercooler will help with higher horsepower, but with the stock turbo on the street I think the stock intercooler is fine.
