VDO gauges REALLY dim... Anyone else? PICS

I just got done installing my vdo gauges and I used the red leds from 42 draft but they are really dim especially the oil temp. I mean at night its almost non existant I'll take some pics tonight.

I grounded it to the chassis and took illumination and 12v from the radio...

I'll take some pics tonight since my cell phone pics is not good at all

but I wanted it to look like this

instead its really dim. I'll take pics. 42 draft said some are dimmer than others because of the design but mine is ridiculouslyt dimmer

HERE it is clear light bulbs
red LEDS
then Thru Gauges

Are the rest of ur dash lights (speedo etc) at normal brightness or is everything dim? if everything else looks normal, its probably something to do w/ the LEDs. LEDs are funny since they only require a fraction of the power that regular bulbs need. I recently installed gauges where u have them...im using regular amber bulbs and they get HOTTTT as hell. I can touch the gauge face and feel the heat from the back. Anyway, my guess is the LEDs are not functioning properly...which seems to be proven by u installing regular bulbs and observing their brightness. Other things to consider: where did u tap for 12v and have u checked the dash dimmer dial (if u have one)?
