+1 My first check would be the coolant hoses for any cracks, dry rotting or loose connections. Also if the smell can be noticed with all windows up check the heater core for leaks. Possible bad or loose radiator cap and finally if you absolutely can't find the source of the smell then use an ultra violet dye in your coolant and after a short drive scan engine bay with black light and that should detect the leak for sure.

Make sure you aren't having your coolant resevoir overflow. My old Eclipse did that occasionally while driving....but I think the root cause of that was the head gasket letting pressure build in the coolant which isn't what you want to hear
The smell of burning coolant and E85 exhaust are pretty different as well. Burning coolant smells exactly like maple syrup, E85 is different, kinda like...beer? lol.
