Question can a turbo warp on the cool side?

i replaced my turbo a few months back with a oem. when i removed it i noticed it has red silicone around the coolside going into the licp. i thought why in the hell would someone do this? anyway i replaced my turbo and cleaned the pipe of the silicone and installed the shim/gasket. worked fine but while under boost my turbo sounded like a diesel , not so much like a boost leak or escaping air so i figured it was the turbo doing what it does. but the last few weeks it got really loud and i knew it was a boost leak. i found it at the pipe were the silicone was and it was pushing air so hard it whistled very loudly at about 20psi. nothing appears to be broke/cracked/loose or out of normal. all i can figure is the turbo is warped or the pipe is warped? ideas? sorry for the book but the more details the better.

You used a new gasket between the turbo and LICP, right? Try tightening it and then check to see if the flange is warped on the LICP or turbo with a straight edge and feeler gauge.

straight edge is your best friend when in doubt silicone is a good friend to have
