It's getting way to serious. I have no regrets or complaints in the project cars we've built. I'd guess all of them brought in much more than they ever cost to build from the parts that were developed and the people who wanted to duplicate them.

I was just making a point how much it costs to come up with the combination of parts VS. the cost to buy the right parts the first time.

If you've added a vendor section, please remove it, it's pointless and will probably only start some type of argument.

My advise to anyone looking to build an EVO and it's been said already.

Do your research, ride in multiple fast cars with different combination's and then decide what you THINK you want. Regardless of what you THINK you want it is going to change some as a project car is never really done until you sell it.

We intentionally make our Staged upgrades (which have become a standard to follow) in a way that as you go from stage to stage you don't have to throw parts out or replace them. This helps with doing it right the first time.

Stages 1-4, for example, cost $4098 and can be installed in most people's home garages over a weekend. This with a good driver can put an EVO8-9 into the 11.4's, conservatively, at full weight etc. The parts bought in those Stages are what can still be used to go into the 8's in the 1/4 mile with the exception of upgrading to twin pumps instead of the single. Pretty well thought out.
It's like you're providing customer service (through facts) even when you don't need to do this . I'll delete the vendor section, but can I at least put the following:

DavidBuschur:
Mods: Too many for you to fathom
Engine: More parts than a lego mindstorm
Price: "More than you can afford PAL, Bad bish!"

Evo IX - 400WHP

AMS Intercooler - $600
AMS LICP - $250
Walbro - $100
PTE 1200CC - $250
MAF Adpt. Filter - $60
Tomei Cams - $450
Head Studs - $100
Hallman MBC - $100
AEM Uego - $175
Boost Guage - $75
E85 Tune - $400

$2,560 plus cost of a Evo 9 in good conition is the most efficient way to obtain 400WHP reliably in the automotive industry in my opinion. While these cars are expensive, they also produce huge results for minimal investment and that is why they are so popular.

You should also edit the first post. If you're in my boat when I first bought my Evo I spent around 22k on parts. I was ignorant and started buying parts that didn't really compliment each other. Not that they were junk, but I was unaware of AMS turbo kits and the small hotside restrictions. My AMS front mount didn't leave much room on the table. The Map Stg 2 2.4 was a great block, but I didn't take into account the RPM restrictions of it and went with a Shep ultimate ratio transmission.

So now I sold the turbo kit, the block, front mount and a few other parts. I purchased a AMS CNC ported head and having MAP build me my second engine, a long rod 2 liter. I'm obviously keeping the triple disc and saving up for a less restrictive T3 or T4 twin scroll kit.

So in total, once the right combination is together, I'll make great power. But the money spent buying and selling parts will be into the $30.000 range. Not including the $21.5 I paid for the car. The car also had some great bolt ons when I bought it.

The moral of the story is SET A GOAL. Figure out whether you want monster spool or 700whp. That's where I went wrong. I was enamored with drag car power numbers but wanted monster spool. Now that I've spent enough time on the forums, learning about other peoples set ups. I understand what I want out of my car. I suggest anyone looking to start modding do the same.

Call me stupid but if you have the HP the torque will come

I am afraid of torque its what brakes drivetrain which is not upgraded on my car.

With FS635 kit with race gas though the torque should be there.
