High horsepower low bank accounts.

I had a guy tell me once that he wanted to build a car just like mine whilst working at a laser tag place making $9/hr. A few months later I ran into him and he had indeed purchased an Evo; stock and used but still he had one. However, I thought to myself that its going to be a long road before he gets to where I am. Then it hit me that I would make a caution thread; sort of like a slap in the face for the people who plan to go broke over this hobby. Noobs, non noobs, and aliens can refer to this thread so they know what they're getting themselves into.

Here's what the thread is all about: You can list your parts and the total invested. I will try to break it down by whp and make it as specific as possible. I know there is a how much will my setup make thread, but how about a how much will my setup cost? I will subject it to USDM HP and JDM HP; USDM will house all of the non-bling hp cars, and JDM HP will house evo's with wheels, body panels, bride's, etc. If you have under $3,000 in aesthetics you'll be in USDM. These can be rough estimates pertaining to cost. You can just put JDM or USDM per your estimated aesthetic part cost.

For those who will need a tune they average around $450-600. If you are planning to build a car similar to someone's listed below you may want to add that to their cost if they haven't. The cost of the car is not included because you can just tack that on to what people have spent on mods, or if you find your dream mod list tack that exact amount on haha.

If you don't want to post here you can pm it to me and I will post your list and cost and you go nameless.

So here goes.

Could turn someone away from doing it until they're more financially secure instead of all of these threads that say: "I'm selling my car because I'm flat out broke."

It's not a cheap hobby and everyone only sees the, I only put $4,000 in and I'm happy. Nobody tells people getting into it how much it really cost.

Hey Matt you can delete your info if you'd like.

I couldnt even post if I wanted to. You skipped the 400-450 range. I will say however I have spent in the neighborhood of $4k including tuning and powder coating stuff.

I take it you know how much power you are making now? Btw there are many more people running less power. More rare for you higher hp guys.

Wish I could lol. Here within the next year, I will be doing a full build. Just waiting on my settlement. As for now, I am completely satisfied with the power I am making. For as little money as I spent and I can run 11's. Thats good for my satisfaction. Im not rushing the build yet. But it will come soon enough.
