p0134...sensor bad?

My car isn't running so great and it threw a p0134 code which is for the 1st o2 sensor. I'm thinking maybe we messed up the sensor when we heated it to get it out of the old o2 housing.

The car likes to rev up to 3k rpm and stay there for a little, then it will drop back down to normal idle. It will do this at random times when I drive. I cleared the code once, but it hasn't come back on yet. But i only driven the car maybe 15miles since clearing it.....

Does this sound like something the car would be doing on a bad o2 sensor?

Yes the front o2 controls the afr. There is a test on how to determine if your o2 sensor is bad in the evo tech manuals that someone printed out on here. I know I had to replace mine on my old evo and bought a universal o2 sensor from advance and spliced it in.

Do a search on here. That is where I got the OEM trouble shooting tips for an o2 sensor. I can't remember but it involved checking the resistance and some other things. I think my o2 heater was bad. It has been a while so I cannot remember. If you throw another code, chances are the sensor is bad. You have already reported poor idle.

i havent thrown a new code since i erased it. the p0134 code is o2 sensor(b1,s1)no activity.

i dont know how i could even get that code in the first place if the sensor wasnt bad. i need to get the car retuned. and i want to make sure the sensor is good before it gets tuned

Well the front o2 controls your afr while cruising and idling around. Drive your car around some more and if it continues with idling and cruising issues, chances are you need a new o2. A oem mitsu o2 sensor was like 300$+ last time I looked it up and thats why I got a universal for 80 I think...

Does the car stall or just have a bad idle? The sensors aren't that expensive I got mine for like $75 brand new.

when i drive the car, at sometimes, it like to just rev to 3000 rpms for no reason. it will stay there from 30sec all the way to a couple minutes.... then it will go down to around 1000rpm.

today when i was coming home from work, it didnt rev high. but when i was in a little bit of stop and go traffic, the car would drop to around 450-500rpm. i would give it gas, just because i thought it might stall. im not sure if it actually would have tho

Do you have a wideband? You can check if you have erratic afr readings.
