the way jmelocik@spec-ops worded his reply...

I don't think the connector on the 5 and 6 speed trannies are the same...therefore your 5 speed sensor can't work

Can you not go order one? I went the opposite direction when my 6spd blew up (it can't handle much power), and I had to do this exact swap, so I just bought it.

For others, the 6spd is a really awesome tranny for regular driving. I also enjoyed while racing (drag, auto-x, and road course) until 4th gear blew up on a normal acceleration in 4th gear down a straightaway. I hadn't even been running the car that hard that day, but if you talk to Shep or other tranny experts, they'll tell you its deficiencies. It is not as strong as the 5spd, but it has several advantages if you can keep from breaking it. I went 3 years or so with lots of racing before breaking it, but there's no way I was going to put in another 6spd with the racing I do. For daily driving, it was far superior to my current IX 5spd, though.

I wouldn't buy from the dealer anyway. Don't you normally source parts online at a big discount? One of the best places to find deals on factory parts is right here on EvoM.

Sure, used costs less, but it's also used with no guarantee. Additionally, that's not the part people usually have sitting around.
