Emissions w/o a Cat....I WIN!!

HAHA i cant believe it went in for my my Emissions test here in MD...I thought driving in i'm so screwed. Guy tells me to turn off the car and wait. He starts doing his thing connecting the OBII cable etc....starts it up, another guy notices the billow of smoke pour out the exhaust adding to the burnt half halo of exhaust fumes on my bumper im just waiting to see flashing red lights and the garage doors to slam shut. A minute goes by "Your all set sir"...WTF are you kidding with everything done to this beast I passed!!!! Roger that grabbed my keys and took off with the biggest smile...I BEAT THE SYSTEM!!!!

In Cali it's the visual that'll get ya more than anything. Do they do that in Va? Anyhow, way to go.

Yea i had a Cali inspection but with a 97 Celica..easy day. I just figured 1000cc injectors and no cat it would have thrown more red flags than a NFL game.

Your fine in MD with no cat as long as they don't do a visual inspection. Some of the places around are real **** with all of that stuff and get out the mirror and look under there. Luckily I haven't had anyone do this to me yet. All they check for around here are just CEL codes.

Yea thank god, but i thought about that..im lowered with the rexpeed lips they would have seriously get a small mirror and work there way under there cause there is very little clearance....my biggest concern was slapping on the HFC and disrupting the integrity of the current gaskets.

Yea, I hate working with exhaust gaskets, always seem to leak half the time if you don't replace them. I wish I was able to take my HFC off honestly but the guy who owned the car before me had it welded into the apexi exhaust

wait a sec, you tried to pass an obdII inspection without using your ecu?! You might as well actually spend the 450 on a stock ecu if you don't have yours so you don't go through that every year. Plug it in, maybe get it scaled for your injectors or a rough tune and baby the car for about 20 miles and then into the inspection bay.

I've had a few shops offer to give me a useable flash on my stock ecu just for that reason if i got an aem through them for MA inspections.

well no i didnt try and take it through i just call and tell them i need an extension and they give me one. in md you have to get it done every 2 years so its not that bad.but for me to switch my car back over to stock ecu would cost a lot more then $450. so i figure its easier to spend 50 to get someone to write me a receipt.

Haha emissions are a joke these days.. I live in IL and back when I had my '99 trans am I went in to get tested, and at the time of the test my electric cutouts had been stuck open..just my luck. I thought oh well I will just have to come back after I fix the wiring..But I went in anyways. My car was rattling the garage doors at the facility, it was obnoxiously loud.

By the way I had full bolt ons, not cats, and a monstrous cam/heads, not to mention slicks and skinnys... A guy hooked up a scan tool, I had no CEL's so I passed that test, but then they hooked up the "sniffer" to my exhaust at the back of my car..but my dumps were open so practically no exhaust was exiting the rear..so I passed! hahaha I couldn't believe it!!
