While the tranny is out...
I'm finally getting ready to tear out my disobedient transfer case and transmission out of my evo 8 and send them off to Shepards. Are there any other things that would be smart to replace while I have all that elbow room?

Check your rear main seal and make sure its in top condition because it's easy to replace with the trans out.
I'm guessing your replacing your clutch too? If not, id replace clutch, get flywheel turned, and replace throw out bearing.
How many miles are on your car? I'd check balljoint boots and tie rod ends. Check power steering lines and rack to see if you have any leaks. Its a good opportunity to clean any grime or dirt that has gotten trapped on the subframe.
That's some of the things i did when I had my trans and transfercase out.

Its a 2005 with 69000 miles on it. i changed the clutch and flywheel out about 20,000 miles ago. its got new a timing belt and tensioners too, i did those with the cam install. you think the TOB is still worth replacing, or do they stay good for a while? Also do you get a lightened flywheel turned after 20,000?

I just did this last weekend, well, I put in the STM master to slave ss clutch line. The hardest part of that install was getting the upper end of the line attached (the end closest to the firewall. You will need the transmission back in the car before installing the other end. Also, it's a lot easier to "reverse bleed" the line & slave cylinder instead of pumping the pedal then opening/closing the bleeder valve.
