building my motor question?
hey guys well I'm going to be building my motor soon and i don't want to buy stuff that i don't need to. My stock motor has 22k miles on it would i need to replace the oil pump and water pump at this stage while I'm building the motor?

I mean you could reuse it, but nobody on here would.
to see exactly what you need search for buids on here. people like RockmanX's build has everything on there listed to build your motor up. its not just getting a block and turbo kit and walla.
new gakets, belts, pulleys, tensioners, water pump, oil pump, oil, oil filter.
but with how low the miles are ou could prolly get away with reusing your water pump, but not oil pump. also remove the balance shafts, get an AMS stubby shaft kit and thread lock that thing in.

im guessing this is going to be a 2.0 build. Ever consider 2.3?? really should get new gasket set, New headgasket, new water pump timing belt, Apr headstuds. you can reuse pullies since not that much wear and tear. Might want to highly consider getting a fuildampr. You have tons of choices for pistons you can just use same pistons br uses thats fine and will get the job done.

yea, they are "buschur spec" je pistons.
Im not sure what wrist pins he uses (im sure whatever they are, they work great considering the abuse his motors take). But, if ordering JE pistons make sure you get the upgraded wrist pins (as i know some people had failures with the ones they come with) and make sure you get the nitrated rings. When building my motor i had trouble finding 9/1 compression so i ended up going with 8.8/1

one more thing about the pistons. For drag use, def go with the 2618 low silicon aluminum alloy piston. They stand up better to heat. The 4032 alloy pistons are more for lower horsepower applications and everyday use (they expand, to help eliminate piston slap). Therefore, no good for drag use.

Haha good memory. I had an evo 8, then 9 and now a 10. The X isnt built...yet. Im not sure if im going to build it or not. I do have a bunch of stuff sitting in my closet (fp red and friends) just looking for a somewhat reliable build making a little over 400 to the wheels for now. I just dont want to go through what i went through with my white 9 again. i ended up hating the car after i built it. esp with the competition twin disc...made everyday driving extremely annoying.
