Here is a paragraph from a recent letter the CEO of the corporation I work at sent out to all employees. It relates to the discussion here and the comment above.

Part of the reason for continued uncertainty lies with raw materials cost. While asphalt availability is essentially balanced, it could become tight if refiners cut crude runs due (1) to a lack of demand and low margins on fuels or (2) to increases in demand for paving asphalt for road construction activity. If crude oil continues trading much more than $80, we might experience cost increases.

$2.79 here in Scottsdale, and others have been reporting $2.5x at numerous gas stations around Phoenix area.

Yep it's 2.79 over here in the bay area california. Love every minute of it. You cannot compare driving on 91 vs E85. There is absolutely no comparison. E85 is so much fun and you can't put a price on that.

Corn prices took a sharp jump nearly limit-up yesterday, expect that to be passed along to the E85 pump in the coming week(s).

I just noticed the price dropped to $.50 under 87 here, usually it's $.30 under. Doesn't matter to me much though, still cheaper than $7ish for similar power race fuel.
