Mil.Spec uses a 100-cell and has dyno charts to back it up. Plus everything I've seen from them has been of very high quality.
All I know of Berk is from years ago when they started making S2000 testpipes. Never heard anything bad from them, sounds like they also make quality stuff...but I have more experience with Mil.Spec and have personally talked to Aby numerous times so I trust him.

I have the BERK HFC and have no complaints.
Good welds, good fabrication, good flanges.
MIL. Spec is 100 cell
BERK is 150 cell
So the MIL. Spec might be worth an extra tenth of a horsepower

In California at least, probably wont even pass the visual unless you get lucky. Lately has been worse out here. A friend didnt pass his smog test cause ref told him he had a cruise control stored code and that was related to emissions. Cali sucks for the smog rules.

I have not done an emissions test, so I dont know if it will pass.
I know it will not pass inspection.
The main reason I got a cat was because they have road stops with sniff testers, and wanted to at least squeak by but still have close to the performance as a TP. Also its better for the environment.
You really cant go wrong with either Mil.Spec or Berk.
I got a great deal from Adam @ MAPerformance on the Berk, which was the selling point for me.

What I asked them:
What they responded (within one hour):
I think that answers all of my questions. I think I might buy one from Maperformance and have them add the bung. Then I'll KNOW the bung will be in the right spot, should save $50 over the Mil.SPEC, MIGHT pass emissions and probably only lose a few horses.
Or maybe I'll just get the Mil.SPEC.

Does that mean that it's proven to pass state emissions test in VA? If so, do you have some kind of documentation of it? I also read somewhere that it's a 150 cell cat. Is that correct? Please let me know. Thanks very much.

The cat we use is an American made metallic cat that carries OBDII certs in all states EXCEPT California. That means that in 49 states this car is approved for use on cars. In CA you CANNOT use this cat on ANY car legally. We do not guarantee smog compliance or legality since laws are always changing. For the state that we are located in (CA) we know that they are not legal for use on public roads.
These are 200 cell cats.
