How do you know the turbo shaft speed?

I read from a member called riceball who is pushing over 15k with his 3582 on stock block. I'm tempted to try the stock block route at first to see what happens and have a 2.4 on standby

Ivey Built: 2.0 Wiseco, Manley Turbo Tuff Combo.
Turbo: HTA86 mounted on AMS kit.

Runs great, No problems whatsoever. Conservative, 511whp low boost, daily driven. Roughly 8k miles, oil changed every 2500. Not high horsepower or torque, but doing a high boost map tune this year.

Sorry for being away but lets keep it alive. Any input as to how strokers vs 2.0s hold up over tIme? Is it wrongful to think the high trq of the stroker might reduce engine life over daily driving many miles? Since the tq is down low. I see good things about the map2.4 but nowadays there are many 2.4 builders. Any body care tao chime in regarding 2.3vs2.4 vs 2.4 lr in terms of engine life. Std compression or 10:1

Thanks for creating this post. I wish there was more participation at this point. With everyone under 20,000 miles it's making me second guess my build plan at the moment. I assumed built would mean "bulletproof" the setup. I guess it just means you'll be able to get more hp/tq (for a limited time). Learn something new each day.

Might be a good place for me to throw in the towel, get a stock motor thrown in and sell all mods to cover some of the costs.

Here's a great read for 2.0 vs. 2.3.

Hardware,

Thanks man. The issue is that there are many options. Most people talk about a built motor like it is the end all savior. This is not true. It's not that it can break, but there is maintenance required since at higher power like mikey said there is more beating on the rods. It depends all on the application also. These guys pushing over 500tq or more are the ones at risk. My questions would be to fill the gaps in the community. Like, what kind of mileage or maintenance is happing on 2.0's vs 2.4s? 2.3s vs 2.1s? Hbeam vs I beam. Instead, you just hear about built motors as the "solution" to the more power problem and nothing more. It's not that simple. Post up folks. I actually really like the stock 2.0, I just don't know what I'll sacrifice if I go to a built motor

I would not build the motor unless you plan on running more than 450tq. If you do build it, it will not last as long as the factory block, period.

I have 134k on stock block and turbo. I've run as much as 375hp, and track it(road race) often. Currently I am at 335hp/355tq and I feel it is as reliable as the day I bought it new..

Yikes, much time has passed but questions continue to come up regarding built motors. Trying to keep it alive here.

For those with built motors, anybody here over 30k on their built motor yet? Any issues? Not really 800tq 900whp builds but more mild like 500- 600, 500tq folks.

thanks
