How do you know when your throw out bearing going bad?

The noise is kind of like a squeaking noise or a metal on metal sound. The clip is on the flywheel where the throwout bearing is located.
If your car is shaking when youre about to take off, that could just be the clutch chattering. How many miles do you have on the clutch and who installed it?

Ya before my TOB went out I heard noise from the clutch/trans area when in neutral. Then before I knew it all of a sudden no more clutch pedal. The TOB literally separated into the two pieces(inside and outside casing of TOB) with the little ball bearings from the middle bouncing around in the clutch/flywheel housing. I'm glad I removed the little rubber plug at the bottom of the trans. I would have had to replace my act clutch for sure then with those bearings bouncing around in there. What a royal pain in the butt. I had to dry shift home for like 27 miles on city streets mostly to get it home and into my garage and start the long task of replacing the TOB.

Would a bad TOB give you a dead pedal as well ? I was driving on the highway and my clutch pedal went dead. I tried moving the fork to see if it engages and it seem like the flywheel is spinning but nothing is grabbing
