Yeah, I would agree with the above.
If you plan to go to grad school, or if you have doubts about your chosen major, your choice of school for undergrad isn't as critical.

Also, I would probably keep the car stock and make it last. Use the $6k towards your auto insurance.

Have you made your final decision on college yet? b/c i'd have something to say about that too...

My buddy turned down a brand new z06 to go to Stanford, and let's just say he made the right choice.

These are some good thoughts. Keep your mind on your future, not your present. There are many times I've spent money on things in the past and wished later I'd had that money still in the bank.

If you choose Rutgers and the Evo, that's awesome, but I'd seriously save at least $5k in a savings account you promise yourself not to touch until you've graduated college. Make it your own reward to yourself for graduating. Trust me, when you're done with school and getting your first job that $5k could come in handy in so many ways.

Ok i have no doubt in what you guys are saying I haven't made my decision yet. I just got an acceptance letter from Stevens Institute of tech, and it says something calling them for information on a scholarship offer. Plus I've not just waited to get into any crappy college I've applied to all those scholarships from microsoft and whatver online and I've got 10k in those. Plus the school I really want to go to is Northeastern and I exceed they're expectations by alot they just don't start admissions until Jan 2nd. I'm definately taking education into my mind first I mean if I don't get the Evo now and go to a good college and get a good job I'll definately be ending up with and Evo and a lot more money to spend on it.
Northeastern is a great school, a couple of my friends go there (one's a MechE in the Honors Program over there) and they all like it so far. NEU definitely has some of the best cafeteria food that I've ever had at a college. Boston is a great college town and I definitely recommend coming up here. I know what you mean about the money and the car being tempting because I faced the same choice that you do, but the better the school is that you'll go to, the more money you'll make out of college. Even if you don't make too much more money straight out of college, you have a better chance at getting a job, which, depending on the major that you choose, might be important to consider. In a few years, you'll be out of school and (hopefully) get a good enough job with your education that you'll be able to afford to buy an Evo for yourself, rather than getting one while you're still in school and getting it scratched and dinged up in college parking lots (college students aren't exactly the most careful or courteous of drivers) and having to spend too much time studying to really enjoy the car. My advice to you is to go to the best school that you can get in to and feel is a good match for you and don't worry about the money or the cars until later. You can always get an Evo when you get out of school, you can never go back and replace the education you received and the fun times that you had while you were in college. Congratulations and best of luck, you certainly seem to have earned it.
