GSC S2 or Kelfords 272 I run Buschur 272s but they are aggressive.Dont get Brian Crower cams they are terrible.

I think i'm leanin towards the kelfords. Ive seen the price ranges from $500-$650. I don't want to get ripped off so where is a good place to purchase them? I have never had to get a tune because I bought the car with this stuff done to it and it was tuned. How much am I looking at for a tune?

i got HKS 272/272 $500(+/-) for my Daily and Vacation Trip maker.
She idles and lopes pretty nice and made some decent power numbers
i recommend them. Don't regret it at all.

but Kelford 272's $550 (+/-) are what you want. They drop some good numbers from what i've seen.

now with the GSC S2's 274/274 $500 (+/-) you're probally going to have to up the Valve Springs and Retainers due to the high volume on those. But well worth the power jump

all of those are good for daily use until you step into Stage 3's (280's) :O

just don't make the mistake of getting the Brian Crower (BC) cams, most of the people i see that get these Regret it...



You're best bet In My Opinion is to get the Kelfords, and if a Performance Shop (( GOOD ONE )) in your area offers Dyno tuning as well as installing. Buy the cams from them to save yourself some $$.$$

i have the s2's on stock springs and retainers (not revving past stock). I love them but they are i think a tad over kill for the stock turbo, but that is going next.

With that setup you have right now, with assuming you have the Greddy Ti-C (I have the same, and love it)

With Kelford 272's(stock springs and retainers) and/or
GSC S2's(beehive springs and retainers or similair)

you can slap the 400whp mark.


your key players are the E85, Evo9 Turbo, 1000cc's (you do have a Walbro 255 or higher Fuel pump right?), And either of those 2 Cams



just for the love of god don't get Brian Crower anything, Even stickers with "BC" on them rob your Evo of it's power potential.

I drive on my Kelford's and like them, I've got 47K on them now.

There's alot out there, Some places cost more but you're going to pay $480-570 for New ones.

But i agree with the guy above, Contact some vendors and see what they can do for you. They usually can work a deal for the products and having them install and tuning it.

It's not too complicated to change them yourself, but being new to the Evo world, let the pros do it. Plus if you choose to do so, you can have them tune your car at the same time (Highly Recommended) A Good Tune is the BEST thing for an Evo. Especially with work done to the head.

Usually if they are local, you can get the Cams from Them, have them Install them, and run it on the Dyno to see where you're at All in one shot... Saves you time and $

i went with kelford 272s and regret it and think gsc s2's would have been a much better choice. i dont feel like the price for them + install and tune was worth it at all.
