Road Trip Stats
So went on a 2.5 hr each way road trip in the evo. On the way down it was snowing hard (4-6 inches) with very crappy roads. When I got to the resort, it was down some back roads with 5-6 inches of freshly fallen snow. Well, the Evo with Sumi-cheapo HTR tires was a tank. Never had any problems at all, much to the surprise of the resort owner who was snowed in at the resort herself.
On the way back, the roads were clear. I averaged 90mph and got 21mpg. Evo really needs a 6th gear and cruise control.

My commute to work normally takes three hours, but I do it weekly, usually drive up tuesdays, drive back thursdays, of course after the great snowfall in New England on Sunday night, I had to drive up this morning. Dug the car out and drove up into the storm that just passed my home earlier that morning. Very strong winds, icy roads, packed snow patches made for an awfully bumpy ride. I forgot when I bought this car that things would stiffen up (the car, not me) when it dropped below freezing. The only cars passing me were cops, I was driving conservatively but didn't have a problem having to pass folks even when only one lane was cleared. Parking lots are fun, a little slipping, then right back in line. Took the secretary at the office out for lunch today (it was her birthday) and she said she loved it, even with a little slipping, she could tell it always had control. I wish it had heated mirrors and a spray for the headlights. Personally heated seats are always a plus, but the other are much more functional. I did notice that the lower grill (for the intercooler) is totally iced over, but with 0 degree windchill, somehow I don't think the turbo will be overheating. The Evo feels more stable than my '01 2.5rs, I just wish there was a winter setting for the suspension, my butt hurts.
