Yeah, I hate the fact that this is my first post here, but my car shocks the **** outta me and my friends everytime, no matter what we're wearing! The odd thing is, I never get shocked by any other cars. Weird....

I get it all the time, too. I only worry about arcing at the gas station. That would not be good...

Otherwise, that spark wakes me the **** up in the morning.

Beware folks, while at the gas station.

I'm sure many of us have heard/seen stories about sparks triggered while pumping gas and this can get dangerous...

Solution

I brush the frame with my forearm/elbow most of the time. I forget every once in a while and I get reminded real quick!

I heard about this one guy who filled up his car and he he put the nozzle lock thing on so that he didn't have to hold the gas pump handle. He got back in his Evo to use the phone. Hist tank was full, he got out of the car while talking on the phone. The phone AND the seats shocked the guy and his car exploded too. Swear to God .

Every ****ing time for me too! Same thing with my 350Z! I think it may have something to do with the seats, both are cloth type. My 911 which is leather has never zapped me.

Believe it or not, at an Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) training I saw pictures of all kinds of cars burnt to crisps because of these shocks. It happens more often at gas stations. The spark caused the fuel to ignite and boom. Even more interesting is that majority of these incidents involve females. Reasons: long hair, dry weather, improper seating, synthetic clothing, etc.

I'm just reporting facts, so please don't attack me. And check out government reports on this, if you don't belive me.

I get shocked getting out of my wife's Mustang, my racecar, my Evo, even the 03 Mustang I traded in to get the Evo. Not only do I get shock in the winter, also in the other three seasons as well. It so sucks.

It is definitely the seats. If I grab the sill and slide/bounce around I can feel repeated shocks through my hand. It seems to be a thing with this type of cloth seat. My WRX used to shock the hell out of me as well but my 993 with leather never shocked me once.

Wiping the seat down with a dryer antistatic sheet is a great idea. I am going to try it with some stench-free bounce so that I don’t smell like a laundry mat. Will report back.
