The other reason women were at risk of arcing was that they often sit back in the car while the car is being fuelled. It regains the static in their clothing and can spark the fumes at the nozzle... It's not that hard to pump the damn gas and stand there....

Yeah, they make an unscented Bounce, I have never tried it in my car. Some men are insensitive, I'm unscentsitive. Nyuk-nyuk.

It has to do with how tires are made. The construction and silca composition of tires has changed considerably in the past 10 years. Most any car now adays on most any current tire will shock you. The car actually buids upa charge just driving through the air. The air movign over the car causes the transfer of electrons to the car. Tires now adays don't allow as much energy to be returned to the earth/ground. So when you get out and are on the ground and you touch your car, you get to help release all that built up energy. often the longer the drive, the greater the charge. THe grounding strap is the best solution. for any car. I usually just tie a small bit of old braided junk grounding strap under my car and let it drag the ground in the winter.

The shock is caused by cloths seats. When we get out of our car we slide against the cloth seat building a charge. When we touch the door frame the charge is given off. This is why there are static fires at gas stations when it is could. People start the pump, get in their warm car, and wait for the tank to fill. Then they get out of their car rub against the seat, leave the door open and discharge when the grab the gas pump handle......boom. I have been shocked by all my cars except the Gallant VR4, leather seats.
If you do not want to be shocked, reduce how much you slide against the seat when getting out of the car.
Me, I am lazy, so I get shocked all the time.

A bunch of SE-R owners have that same problem. Including me. I guess on Monday I will know if I have that problem with the EVO.

During winter times, you will encounter getting shock when you get in or out of your car. I found a solution to this which was very effective. I bought a static shock remover at Super Autobacs 3 months ago for $12 and it connects to any metal parts under the rear bumper so it will hang and touch the ground. It is made of rubber outside and soft metal inside. Ever since I got it, I never got static shock. I hope this help for some who got shock.

You better get one of those "remove before flight" safety strips while your at it..

All you have to do is touch any metal (A-pillar or door sill) before you put your foot on the ground.
