I've seen stock rev-limits anywhere from 7400-7800 depending on the ROM number.

Even if your running 30lbs on a stock turbo its pushing way to much hot air to be effecient.

about the stock head, I think everyone agrees not to go to 8500 on stock spring/retainers
Agreed, the stock turbo does run out of push before then But I think at least as far as when I used to do the email tunes with Mellon he had me do that to 1) Make sure they AFR's were in check and there was no knock up high and 2) So that should I decide to go buck wild and push the car that hard if something else in the motor failed it wouldn't have been on him tune wise. A good CYA move if you ask me... which nobody did but I'm jus sayin.

Not necessarily... I mean maybe on the MIVEC IX’s but not on the VIII's; unless I got some sort of anomaly car. Because the cams I had back when I had “basic bolt ons” was the WORKS 269 which came with springs that I ended up returning for a refund because when we measured the compression rating of my stock springs vs. the WORKS springs mine had a better rating. Don’t ask me how it just was what it was.
