Not again ...

Bought 03 evo in 2008 . Had 74k miles on it . Switched clutch at 77k to another stock one because dealership recommended it . Charged more than they had to . Knew I should have bought an aftermarket one . Now I'm at 95k and clutch is slipping . What should I replace it with , I'm looking at exedy stage one vs act street . Which one lasts longer for daily driver stock ? Costs 1 grand for labour and clutch too much for me to handle . Probably will sell car after for an automatic . Hate clutches especially from evo so many problems .

Your gonna be at 1k with either of those clutch kits + labor.

So many reasons the clutch could have went in less than 20k improper install, improper adjustment, improper break in, inexperience, launching, racing, too much power for it, etc...

What power does your car make? That could help explain why the clutch went out in 18k miles

Do not get the act street clutch. Get the 6 puck if you're gonna get a act

I've been on a ACT HD for over 45K with zero issues. I'm put 387wtq on a mustang and no slips. It's also how you drive that can make the difference in a clutch.

I bought my Evo new and I'm still riding the clutch it came with at 75K. This after using the car to teach my wife to drive stick and enjoying plenty of burnt clutch smell in the long process.

I'm next to stock with only air intake modded . So anyone got the exact name for the Clutha I should get ? Something that doesn't break in 20k miles . I don't launch the car never race. Only some turbo usage once in a while . Gas is expensive . Thank you

no im not gonna buy a stock one prob costs the same as a exedy stage 1 anyways. Unless its that much cheaper then maybe, cuz im most likely gonna sell it for a daily driver auto soon. Growing out of this phase and has this car has cost me more than it has to for a car. Worst decision in buying a evo. Love the name, love the look, love the performance, hate the price of maintaining that comes with it

I am learning how to try and deal with it since the car was salvaged.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I've heard on this forum that the stock clutch is basically the same as the exedy stg1. Additionally that the stock clutch is made by exedy. Again correct me if I'm wrong...

Have you considered a change in your driving style? Seriously. If there's an issue there, a stronger aftermarket clutch won't necessarily last that much longer.

Edit: I thought you sounded familiar. Now I remember.

If you can stop going to dealerships too some of them are just in it for the money or if you can bring what you can that is reccommended and just have them perform the labor if yoru that desperate.

I think you should try to get in with a good shop and say **** the dealership becuase when they **** up they still wont take up to it imo personally had the same issue before with my last car. Thats some dealerships not all.
