Carbon Fiber
Looking to buy some carbon fiber parts for my evo 9.
1. Does anyone have any advice or things to keep in mind while purchasing these either from past experiences or things you've heard (ie. cf lips shattering, or clear coat easily coming off)
2. Does anyone have any preference on a good company to buy these cf parts from specifically lip, hood, trunk lid

1. The only thing that will ruin a cf lip is if you scrape or bump into something. As long as you properly care for your carbon fiber pieces by waxing them, they shouldn't have any clear coat problems.
2. It really depends on your budget. I don't really have a preference, but I do like the Do-Luck trunks ($$) and Rexpeed carries good quality carbon fiber parts.

I've seen cf lips crack really easily, if your car isn't lowerd to much I wouldn't worry about it. Rexpeed carries some good stuff, but you should check out other vendors on here. If you want to ensure no clear coat fading it wouldn't be a bad idea to give them a fresh layer of clear.

I have a black top aero carbon fiber front lip. The fitment is great and I can run the under tray with slight modification. I also suggest the rexpeed front lip, but I do not have any personal experience with it.
I have a bayson r carbon fiber front lip which is a replica of rexpeed's trunk lip. My friend has a rexpeed and he even says mine looks and fits a lottt better. And it was half the price.

like i just posted on the CF lip thread, i would stay away from JDP brand CF products, they yellowed the first week i had them, and the minute i tapped a parking spot stone, it shattered. not to mention it was about $600 bucks... which i feel was wayoverpriced for something of that poor quality

If you just want the look, buy the cheap brand then reclear/ wax regularly.
If you want the look + quality + save weight, get ready to open some new credit cards. They're not cheap.
Go to the vendor forum and send them some PMs. They will help you out.
I recommend Rexpeed too, they ship fast and the parts are good quality.

I've been through A LOT of carbon fiber parts in my time (I am a bit of a carbon nut). And I found almost all carbon fiber clear coating fades or gets foggy over time. Your best bet is to try and keep the parts away from extreme heat/sun as much as possible. Also make sure to keep the parts waxed and washed regularly.
In my experience with my GSX I had to have my VIS hood re-clear coated after a year and when I bought it the weaves looked all messed up as well. Seibon has about the same quality from what I hear.
I have a few rexpeed and carbign craft parts and haven't had any issues with them thus far, but than again I haven't had them on for very long.
One thing to note is NO CARBON FIBER PARTS will fit perfect and flush on your car. Doesn't matter who makes them or what part, they never fit perfect so expect small gaps. Most people don't notice unless you are SUPER picky like myself.
