Defi VSD Concept HUD Display
I was wondering if these are still around? http://www.defi-shop.com/product/con...ncept_top.html I think they would add alot of character to the car. Something not very many people would have. Ive searched the forum here for info. But it wasnt very recent. (2007). I was wondering for the people that do have them, what did it take to install them? Does anyone have any pictures of it installed on there car.
Thanks

if you want a free hud, and if you have an iphone or new ipod, you can get and app called "awesome hud". you can find it on itunes. not sure if it's out for the android market though.
i have it and use it occasionally. it's really difficult to see in the day, but rather clear at night. plus bonus! if you have an ipod to car aux input, you can keep it charged and listen to music at the same time!
check it out!

I have the VSD Concept in my evo. For driving on the street, it's nice to have the MPH on my windshield since the evo for whatever reason feels like I have to look at my feet to see the speedometer.
I thought it would be useful at the track too, but after testing it doesn't calculate speed fast enough for it to be useful on track. Braking from 120 to 75, there is a very noticeable 1 second or greater lag for the display to catch up so it's not as useful. But for the street and just knowing how fast you are going is nice. I still for whatever reason cannot get the RPM signal wire to work properly, so I have been unable to use the shift light etc.

i checked this out too. it was discontinued and is not being made anymore. they are hard to find. there are other options out there, but i am not sure on how well they work. I'd look into some other units that do the same thing.

The wiring is simple, since it's a display. The display simply plugs into the included control unit, and the control unit plugs into the Defi gauge/sensor control unit. It will display multiple readings at the same time, and allow you to set imperial or metric, so if you're gauge is metric, you can have the HUD "translate" it to imperial on the HUD display.
You can also "cycle" through the readings for the one you are focused on at the moment. I have mine set to start with oil temp, until it comes up to the temperature where I'm ready to romp on it, then I switch to oil pressure so I can monitor that continuously.
