Factory oil temperature gauge

Today I got in my car and well i was taking it out doing normal driving/crusing and i look down to see my oil temp on my factory mr gauges rising and its never risin that fast to about 70 degrees and just above. Im just alittle worried that it went up this fast. Idk if its the 100 degree heat or something. someone shed some light please.

If it's hot out the oil temps don't need time to warm up from engine heat. Ur oil is already being heated by the outside temp. Same with cold days, takes longer to warm up than hot days

Check your oil level? Double check there's no leaks, make sure there's no crap on your oil cooler etc. Also, what oil are you running? Maybe you need to go with a different kind of oil for the summer months that's better able to handle the heat?

High oil temperature means one thing. Your oil is hot.

If its hot outside... your oil is going to be hot.

If it were "NORMAL" temps, and you still notice this problem, I'd investigate it further.

Normally, with high oil temp, it just means that your oil level could be low (the oil has less time on the cool side, and therefore heats up more). This is easy enough to check with a dip stick check. If you're VERY worried, you could do an oil change and monitor the system.

But if its hot outside, your oil is going to be hot.

70 is nothing. I wouldn't worry unless I was seeing 110+ during regular driving. I'm in AZ and I've been seeing 90 on average with outside temps well over 100 degrees.

FWIW, I see usually see 70-80 on the factory gauge, 80-90 peak. Sounds like your car is running as it should.

Mine gets around 70-80 too. Looks like it's running normal.

Yup your fine. When I still had the oil temp gauge I was seeing 70 in August with temps around 90 using 10w-30.
