Hood vent cover?

Chaps... I just happened across a picture in one of the photo threads that seemed to have what I'm after, but I can't find it anymore.

In the hoods of the EVO, there's obviously a vent. Is there some type of product that can be put on or under the vent to prevent water/snow/whatever from just dripping into your engine bay while the car sits dormant outside (if it should ever have to?)...

Does that make sense?

there's not reason to block it, the water can't hit anything critical

Had a foot of snow on my car in the winter, and 2 weeks of rain recently and nothing happend. Don't see why you would want to cover it up, it helps the engine from over heating

I'm pretty sure the OP just wants some type of cover for while the car is sitting some place in crappy weather so the engine bay stays cleaner and rust free....

Yep... thats the one I had on my 5.

Also yes... I'm not trying to "cover" the vent as I don't want to keep heat in, but doing the apt thing currently and might not have a garage to tuck it away into all the time. I'd rather keep the crap out. It'll take me 3 minutes to put that thing on and take it off.

ANYWAY... do they make it for the 9?

Yes they do
You could probably find one used in the for-sale section
You could also have a dealer order you one.
They're about $130 new

*The links being a bit weird. Just click on hood and components, and it's called the insulator

that appears to be a regular hood vent, how would that keep rain, snow etc from entering the engine bay? also yes i had that problem as well with water coming in the engine bay. i've never seen a solution made to just cover the vent before. best bet would just be to keep it garaged or near an area with a roof.

OP clarify this a little: do you want an aftermarket vent to replace the piece shown in pic? or...
is your evo missing that piece, and you just want to put it back?

I'm trying to buy an evo still. All I'm really looking for is something to keep water/snow whatever from pooling into the engine bay if the car should sit for awhile in inclement weather.

That piece seems to be exactly what I'm looking for though... unless there's some other option you're suggesting?

The vent pictured a few posts up comes on the car from the factory. If it is not there, someone took it off.

The stock vent should do the job just fine. When I have it on my car (typically off for cooling purposes) it keeps most of the dirt, dust, etc. out of the engine bay. It does a really good job of keeping most of the water out of the engine bay as well, you can test this by washing your car with it on.

Ok... I'll look into it then. I know some of the cars I've been looking at definitely didn't have it.

Thanks for the help though chaps!
