Anyway to extended the life of the fan control unit? ...is it a moisture? or heat issue?

You would want to fix it rather than wire it to run all of the time. Having it run all the time just puts extra load and wear on the charging system. The fan should only run when the car is idling for long periods. Keep in mind that the second electic fan runs whenever the AC compressor is engaged.

I want to jump in here for the sake of the thread. The fan turning on and off is because your AC is turning on and off. I noticed this today. If you hear your fan just turn on and off at idle look at your AC clutch. Its probably going with the fan. Turn off the fan blower inside your car and it will stop. Mine was doing this even with the AC off. I'm thinking its because I had the blower selection going to the windshield defroster and that automatically triggers the AC. I'm going to check that later today. Turn the vent selection to just out the top vent and make sure the AC is turned off. It should stop your fan from kicking on and off. Or just keep the blower off unless you need it.
