Yes its a possibility if theres alot of carbon build up. Youre gona have to take it apart and clean it.

 

I will pull it apart this weekend and take a look at it. Ill let you guys know if it looks like that couldve been the problem

 

I had exactly the same issue, 2 things were bad IAC amd MAS. Now its great.

Pull your IAC and turn the key to on, you'll be able to hear the motor working while its trying to find where idle is. I had mine go bad and had a bad idle problem

 

mine is doing the same thing right now but if it was ur IAC the check engine light should go on. my cold start idles below 1000 n then once i start driving it idles above 1500 rpm. so gay. also what kind of BOV do u have? i had a guy come look at my car n he said i had boost look through their. good luck keep us posted

I'm also having a bad idle. My car stalled everytime I let go of the gas pedal. I ordered a new IAC. Hopefully this is the problem.

 

I had almost the same thing but my idle went up to 2500rpms and then to a 300rpm`s and stall. I also had faulty MAS Sensor and EGR Valve was not working properly. Hopefully IAC will fix your problem, seems like lots of EVOs suffer from this problem an any info out there is very helpful

 

how were you able to tell that the MAS sensor and EGr had a problem? I started my car today and it idle fine. Odd.. Well

 

I replaced IAC and problem remained so basically I spent 6 hours at the shop they just checked and tested everything including the tune and any possible leak to fix the problem.

 

Oh man amazingly fast response lol. Yeah I'm definitely going to take it to the shop if the IAC problem doesn't work.
