speedo not working

Hey everyone,
I recently installed new gauge overlays over my speedo but in the process i might have touched the speedo needle, car sat in process while doing motor work for a few weeks. When finished took car out and noticed that all the speedo wasnt working. i know the speedo sensor is on top of the tranny. Could it be that or possible something else? Any ideas, thanks.
