I believe the Evo requires you to be passed redline for a set amount of time before it cuts fuel. If it happened once, don't sweat it. It's bad for the engine, but doing it once isn't going to destroy your engine unless you're really unlucky.

There are guys here that are revving 8k+, I remember someone saying they rev to 8800. Standard rev limit is 7606 (for the IX, I believe for the VIII too).

You can adjust the fuel cut limit, but depending on your valve train modifications, stroke, and motor (built/stock block etc) your maximum safe rpm will differ. Even hitting fuel cut isn't necessarily damaging to the motor although its to be avoided. One of the turns on Summit Main requires me to run right up to redline (I could really use some more revs on turn 9!) so last month I hit the rev limit and fuel cut on one of my laps there.

Yeah I've seen a video of Sti, Evo, RX-7, and the 2 Evos were revving to 8k every time. And revving to 7500 doesn't always mean you'll run faster, if stock it most likely makes less power at 7500

you mean passed the red markings on your tach?

I regularly run mine up to 8k (and my fuel cut is at 8023)

Don't do it no need to push the car to higher rpm when you ain't really modded when it stops making power your jus risking a hefty repair bill..

LOFL. he shifts at "snow".

Reminds me of when i had a Ford explorer floored on the turnpike. It was pointed at "D" on the gear indicator. But it had a 85mph speedo...
